Description

Operation Black square is a 2D game from new developer DragonApps, that most distinctly and absolutely falls into the action genre, not only in terms of it's gameplay, but also in terms of it's subject matter and setting.

In the game you will be taking on the roll of Max Fieros, one of those large loud men who's job is administering explosive justice to the worlds villains. In Operation blacksquare some form of terrorizing organization have taken over a base close to New York city which you, as Fieros need to infiltrate, ---- or rather slaughter your way into.

The game is played entirely on a 2D board where you can move in the four principle directions with the arrow keys. control fires your selected weapon (which can include your own fists), in the direction your facing, and d ducks. To here a close enemy, various tools exist such as an indicator mode with f1, or a scope with the L key. needless to say, you need to be quick off the mark to take down the opposition before they get you, though fortunately you can hit the D key to duck oncoming fire. You can also grab health packs and other items scattered around the board, though really this is far more of a quick action outing than any sort of careful collection game.

In the mission mode of the game, you'll be shooting your way through different parts of the building, with each mission having it's own map and environment. Audio cutscenes will provide progress updates on how your doing.

The game also contains a survival mode, in which you'll be placed on a Jungle map with a hoard of gun toting foes or blood thirsty zombies just to see how much you can take. With comparatively little health and lots of enemies to slay, this is definitely a game for people with fast reflexes, though fortunately there is a tutorial that explains everything in the game and gives you a short, low intensity board with one enemy to practice on.

Everything is self voicing with some pretty awesome sound effects to show the environment and some very good (if perhaps not original), music.

Though possibly not the most interlectual game available, if you've ever fancied stepping into the large, military boots of the A team, Rambo or the Expendables this might well be the game for you.

Best of all, it's free, though should you want to show your appreciate to Dragonaps with a donation there is a link on the above website.
